The Color That Represents Me (8/26)

The color that represents me is blue because it is the most similar to me than any other color. Blue is associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. I try to fulfill these expectations to my greatest ability everyday and although sometimes I might not exceed to these great standards I strive as much as possible. I hope blue is the color that represents me because the characteristics it symbolizes are great qualities.

Judging is done daily by everyone. A person's first response to an incident is to judge based on that incident. I'm not saying that this is good or bad, but why not just take it for what it is? Judging can cause a perception to be the total opposite of the actual fact. To good or bad. Although, people's jobs are to judge. For example, judges, jury, etc. So, even though it is necessary sometimes judging should not occur all the time. It can break or create wrong friendships. So try not to determine if something is good or bad, but move on and see the whole circumstance.

“Switch” Play Audience Member Experience

Today I went to go see the play "Switch." This play was based on foster youth and their lives. It spoke of all the dilemmas that occur when you are in the system and how the system itself works. It is really inspiring to achieve, and to those that are not in our position it is very touching. The actors were very good and actually made their character in each scene. I am glad I was able to go and I thank not only the teachers for taking us but the authors that created such a great play. I think it would be cool if my story was told in a play.

Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection

The fourth quarter kickoff's intentions are great. At first, all the classes were separated and each of them participated in an activity. Us sophomores watched a great movie and did a little activity regarding the movie. Then we were separated into teams to compete in several sports. I could not participate due to my knee injury which still leaves me crippled. So, before the day was over Pablo and I went back to my house early and I slept. I was happy I was able to return home earlier than anyone else. That was the fourth quarter kickoff for S.P.A.

Fourth Quarter Goals

I learned many things but my greatest accomplishment was achieving a 4.0. This quarter I will try my hardest to maintain that 4.0. In order to achieve this one more time I have to work hard again, but this time I wouldn't like to barely pass, but to pass with flying colors. This quarter I need to devote more time to academics and lastly I need to pay attention in class. I always have but a little more attention wouldn't hurt.

Google Moderator Questions and Answers.

"Do you think that people set very high expectations for themselves that are unrealistic? Why"
I think people do set unrealistic goals because many of them don't see the reality.

"Dose this make you want to change your dream job to something more achievable?"
This does not because my goals are reachable no matter how high they are.

"Why did John Updike write the poem?"
He wrote the poem so he can show kids that anything can happen to destroy or make your dreams greater.

"What do you think happened to Flick, why do you think he didn't become a Pro- NBA star?"
He ended up working at a gas station because he didn't work to his full potential.

"After reading the poem does it change your prospective on which is more important.(Yes,No) Why?"
No, I believe my prospective is correct becuase school is more important.

I have been real busy lately. I have had plans on pass, homework for school, just recently quit a job, and it is getting quite overwhelming. I like the fact that I always have something to do, but now I appreciate the fact I can just relax. Now that I quit my job I have more time to sleep and get ready in the morning. I am currently aiming for a 4.0 and I am praying I make it. Though my life consists of many complicated events and things I love it. I think the way people act is so funny, while my life is fantastic. Anyways, that's just what I've been up to.

Memorable Valentine's Day

My first valentine was in sixth grade. I was only eleven years old and I really wanted to get my girlfriend something (I am pretty romantic). Also, I didn't have any money to buy her anything so I was stuck in a pickle. On Valentine's Day I had to think of something quick, and I decided that instead of writing the bus to school I would go to the store and then walk the rest of the way. The bus dropped me off right in front of "Rite Aid." So, being sneaky, I stole ten-dollars from my grandmother, went to the store, and bought a flower and some chocolate. Although I was super shy I walked with a limp, handed her the gifts, and got my valentines kiss. We were both happy, and that was my first real valentine.

"Remember" Become a Poem Paragraph

"Entering the Poets world, I think she wrote this story and published it because she thought people didn't respect themselves and where they live. Another example, If I was the poet I would have published this because I might of realized what other people don't, and I apreciate my world and all who live in it. A final example, If I were to make a poem and have it published I would do it because the way I described this poem is said in such a way the poem alone can change someones persepctive.
This poem made me feel ashamed because I see how orrible people treat each other and our world.

My style

When I was in eight-grade I felt as if I needed a new look because I felt as if I needed to update my style. I felt as if how I dressed was dull, and I looked up to my friend’s style, which was a bit abstract. I didn't need more attention it was more of a moral gesture. I started wearing skinny jeans, a lot of colors, and more updated shoes. I felt as if the way I dressed was representing me and it still is. And if I was to dressing to impress it would be all of my peers that I hung out with. When I changed my style I felt more accepted and "fresh." I actually liked the way I dressed at the time. I constantly change the way I dress due to what I like. Now my style is my decisions and is based on what I like.

Imagery in a Song

The name of the song that reprsents my life is called, "Runaway Love" by Ludacris and Mary J. Blige. One example is right before the hook when it says, Nothin' else to do but get some clothes and pack. She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back." That reminds me of when my brothers and I ran away four years ago. Another example is when the song states, Yells and abuses, leaves her with some bruises. Teachers ask questions, she's makin' up excuses. Bleedin' on the inside, cryin' on the out." This shows me an image in my head of when my brothers and I were abused. Lastly, when the song says, "...is eleven years old. She's steady tryin' to figure why the world is so cold," reminds me of when I was eleven and how I viewed the world. When I hear this song I am not sad, but happy because it shows me how much I've been through and just what I had to go through to get where I am at today.

"Runaway Love" by Ludacris and Mary J. Blige

Yeah and it go a little somethin' like this
Yeah and it go a little somethin' like this

Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love

Now little Lisa's only nine years old
She's tryin' to figure out why the world is so cold
Why she's all alone and they never met her family
Momma's always gone and she never met her daddy

Part of her is missin' and nobody'll listen
Momma's on drugs, gettin' *** up in the kitchen
Bringin' home men at different hours of the night
Startin' with some laughs, usually endin' in a fight

Sneakin' in her room when her momma's knocked out
Tryin' to have his way and little Lisa says ouch
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her momma don't believe her

Lisa's stuck up in a world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get some clothes and pack
She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back

Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love

Little Nicole is only ten years old
She's steady tryin' to figure why the world is so cold
Why she's not pretty and nobody seems to like her
Alcoholic step-dad always wanna strike her

Yells and abuses, leaves her with some bruises
Teachers ask questions, she's makin' up excuses
Bleedin' on the inside, cryin' on the out
It's only one girl really knows what she's about

Her name is little Stacy and they become friends
Promise that they'll always be tight 'til the end
Until one day, lil' Stacy gets shot
A drive-by bullet went stray up on her block

Now Nicole's stuck up in a world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back

Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love

Little Erica is eleven years old
She's steady tryin' to figure why the world is so cold
So she pops *** to get rid of all the pain
Plus she's havin' sex with her boy who's sixteen

Emotions run deep as she thinks she's in love
So there's no protection, he's usin' no glove
Never thinkin' 'bout the consequences of her actions
Livin' for today and not tomorrow's satisfaction

The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out, he ain't ready for a kid
Knowin' her momma would blow it all out of proportion
Plus she lives poor, so no money for abortion

Erica is stuck up in a world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she 'bout to run away and never come back

Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love

Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love
Runaway love, runaway love

Runaway, runaway love
Don't keep runnin' away
I'll run away with you
If you want me to

Yeah, I can only imagine what you goin' through, ladies
Sometimes I feel like runnin' away myself
So do me a favor right now and close your eyes
And picture us runnin' away together
When we come back, everything is gonna be okay

Open your eyes

Dream House Paragraph with Imagery

My dream house is only a regular house. My house has two stories, and it is painted white. The outside has a color scheme of white purple and turquoise. I have a balcony that looks over the pacific ocean on the east coast. Every morning I can taste the light morning dew that drizzles all over my house. I can feel the moisture on the hand rail. I walk inside and feel on a smooth leather couch. Right in front of my couch is my hard, transparent glass table. As I head to my room, I feel my hard, black, wood bed posts. And I fall into my temperpedic bed that just surrounds my body with absolute comfort and cushions. My house smells like Febreeze because my bed is sprayed by it. Although my house smells fresh, there is still a lingering smell of new leather because I had just recently bought my new leather couches. As I doze of I can hear the ocean's waves crash and then the tide roll in. I hear seagulls that land on my porch and chirp their loud chirp. Right before I go to sleep I hear my coffee pot grinding my coffee. And as I imagine the red light going on I hear a beep. This house is not much, but it is or would be a great achievement. To achieve this house I have to just keep doing well in school, because without school there is no job, without a job there is no money, and without money there is no dream house.

Third Quarter Goals Reflection

I had several goals for third quarter. My first one is to manage my time in favor to academics. Another is to do ALL my homework and classwork assignments. Lastly, it was to behave better so my citizenship can also be a 4.0. I worked hard to reach these goals but I ended up coming a little short of a 4.0. Though I did not reach a 4.0 I am doing well academically. But to actually reach these goals that aren't impossible I definitely need to study more. At the end of this quarter I believe I will be happy with my grades.

“Through the Tunnel” Foster Youth Initiation

Even though they don’t have to swim through a tunnel like Jerry in “Through the Tunnel” by Doris Lessing, foster youth are initiated out of the foster care system. As foster kids exit the system they go through a process. This process consist of paperwork, court dates, and a high school diploma. A kid who is in the system can go through programs to stay in the system up until 21, but most youth don't do that. Also, foster youth go to many workshops and financial aid like: I.L.S., the House program, T.H.P., etc. Foster kids have to go through all this work just to be on their own, but at the end it is all worth it and they get so many benefits. As a result of this initiation, most foster kids are guided to success, but its the decision if they follow it or not.

“Through the Tunnel” Analysis Paragraph

If the story was told in the mother’s point of view the story would be totally different. If this was so all of the son's thoughts and feelings wouldn't be explained as it was in the story. In the story the mom was barely present, but if it was in her point of view all her thoughts would be told and she would obviously be present more than half of the story. Also it would fill all the gaps of the story when the mother was missing and replace them with the child that is why if the story was told the whole story lessons and point of view would be totally different.

House Symbols

The Lakers symbolizes our house which is Boys 3. To most people, this item is just a famous basketball team. To us, it represents our house and our relationship because the bonding they have is more than what it looks like. In the NBA it is more than just a team to them and is S.P.A. our house is more than just a house to us. Like the Lakers our house is a family. Also, like the NBA, players get traded and students might trade house but we still try to stay close and stay as a family. That is why our house is just like the Lakers.

Third Quarter Goals

I did achieve goals in 2010. I always got over a 3.5 and I have received a job. I am saving money and I am on top of all my activities. I manage my time very well and I have both a social life and an academic focus. What I did to achieve this was just working hard and staying focused on my priorities. And by doing so anyone can easily pass.

This year, though I did exceptional last year, is to get a 4.0. That is my goal and that is my plan.
  • Manage my time in favor to academics.
  • Do ALL my homework and classwork assignments
  • Also behave better so my citizenship can also be a 4.0
